Rule-space survey

Samples random outer-totalistic rules exactly like runRandomRules() in analysis/main.cpp and classifies each with Analysis::classify: every rule runs from several random soups until the grid repeats (stable if the period is 1, oscillating otherwise) or the generation limit is hit, where mean 5×5 subgrid entropy splits chaotic from complex. With seed 2026 and the default settings the list matches the CLI's output.

Where the categories live

Each mark is one rule. x: Langton-style λ, the share of neighbour counts that give a live cell (birth + survival counts ÷ 2(N+1)). y: mean live-cell density at the end of the trials. Click a mark to open it.

How long until it repeats

Generation where each trial's grid first repeated.
